INDIANAPOLIS, IN(AP)-
Through six games of this 2009 season, the Indiana Pacers have accumulated a record of 3-3(.500).
Leaders:
Scoring: SF Luol Deng - 22.7 ppg
Rebounds: C/PF Troy Murphy - 9.2 rpg
Assists: PG Dominic James - 5.7 apg
Steals: TIE PG Dominic James, SF Luol Deng - 1.7 spg
Blocks: PF Tyrus Thomas - 2.3 bpg
Game-by-game Breakdown:
Day One, vs. Memphis:
We beat one of the top teams in the league 97-87. It was fueled by a great start to the first quarter in which we took an early 34-14 lead. Six guys on the team had double figures in scoring.
Day Five, vs. Boston:
After beating a top team, we got rocked by another top team. Not just rocked, EMBARRASSED: 121-78. We had no answer for McGrady and Wade, who combined for 61 points, while we were dominated all game, giving up the ball 23 times.
Day Six, vs. New Orleans:
A nice rebound from the Boston game. We had another huge first quarter, scoring 35 points. We had great shooting, with a 51.3% field goal percentage. I've noticed we've had a problem being dominated on the boards. I'll have to find an answer to that.
Day Seven, vs. San Antonio:
We lost the game on the boards again, but at 54-50, it wasn't quite as bad. The Spurs were just too experienced for this young team and pulled away from us in the second quarter on the way to our eventual 102-93 loss.
Day Eight, vs. New Orleans:
The early rematch with the Hornets gave them the opportunity to even the score, which they did, handing us a 99-90 loss. We finally won a game on the boards, so hopefully things are turning around. Dominic James hit three 3-pointers on his way to lead the team in scoring with 23.
Day Ten, vs. Washington:
In our final game of the sim, we finally got to play a team with a losing record. We took advantage, winning the game 103-88 and dominating nearly every category. The 55% shooting percentage didn't hurt us, either.
We will be looking to make a change or two before the next sim and hopefully fix our few flaws that are really hurting us.
