I'll make these short because it seems like people want to see where they're stacked. I'll go by winning % for the most part and if a whole bunch of teams are altogether, then I'll look at your schedule and see if you have quality wins.
#1) - How can this team not be the best. At 6-1 with a perfect 5-0 record ON THE ROAD, the Suns team is built to win. They have to thank their lucky stars Amare came back into their lives.
#2) - The opposite of the Suns. The Grizz are 5-0 at home and 1-2 on the road with their only win coming from a come-from-behind win at The Palace. This Grizz team is stacked though so make no doubt about it. They have ALL the pieces you need to contend.
#3) - The so-called "Best Frontcourt in the league" resides in POR and it sure is playing that way. 22 and under stars Rudy Gay, LaMarcus Aldridge, & Greg Oden are all averaging above 20 ppg and are proving they can win on the road with its only loss coming at MEM.
#T4) - Get used to this recurring theme of Western teams with good records. I had a hard time deciding between the Jazz and Rockets. Both have the exact same records and almost the same quality wins. With their own big 3 of Ray Allen, Josh Howard, & Carlos Boozer as well as playmaking PG Deron Williams, this Jazz squad has the tools to make it far.
#T4) - The Rockets are built around the 2 most vital parts to a team ; it's PG & C. Yao Ming and Gilbert Arenas are going to need to also carry the offensive load so that the Rockets can advance far into the playoffs. Only Ron Artest is the other player capable of scoring on this team.
#6) - Finally, the East Coast decided to show up. This isn't the same squad that won it all last season but this one could be seen as more dangerous. With T-Mac and D-Wade running the show in Beantown, there will almost never be any sort of slowing down. I just hope they find a capable scorer in the post to help out Emeka.
#7) - A team that I like alot. A ton of good role players but they need that go-to-guy to take them to the top. This team also like to win and lose in consecutive combo's. 3 wins followed by 3 losses followed by 3 wins might not bode well late in the season, especially in the playoffs.
#8) - One of th more active GM's in the off-season, the Cavaliers are starting to gel with 3 straight wins following their 0-2 start. Unfortunately for them, Yi is not complimenting D12 downlow like many were expecting. This team has a nice nucleus and will be able to go deep in the playoffs with their quality depth.
#9) - Let me tell you, this GM is one great looking guy. Unfortunately his team is not playing up to his standards. The Spurs have started off slow from the gate although none of it should be blamed on the big 3 of TD, Gino, and Parker. They have shown up each and every game but the rest of the starters need to step up. It didn't help also to play PHX twice.
#10) - Addition by subtraction? Take out T-Mac and look at what Jefferson has been doing. The Nets are happy to have those stats I can tell you that. This team is very young but also very old. Webber's legs aren't going to be able to hold up and although the Williams/Green backcourt is holding up now, who knows whats in store for the future. It is a pleasure to see Harrington and Nene have nice seasons though.
#T11) - The commish's team is playing a very normal .500 ball. Iguodala has blossomed into one of the game's best players and the Bulls could be doing alot better if Ben Gordon was playing up to his contract. Needless to say, they also could use some meat in the frontcourt because bigger bodies are going to be able to push around Warrick and Big Z.
#T11) - Gotta love the Pacers GM. He's making smart moves left and right and is building a nice little team in IND. Luckily for him, this is the 1st Power Rankings of the season so his team is high because of their record. With wins over the Grizzlies and Hornets, they have proven they can hang with the big boys. But they also have those losses where there youth shows so watch out for this team during the regular season, they'll surprise many.
#13) - Memo to Al Jefferson, you better start playing like those ratings say or your ass is outta Minny. On a lighter note, KG is still putting up MVP numbers in ....... Minnesota? And, Randy Foye is proving he's a better rebounder then passer? This ballclub has some questions to answer and they better find them quick or they could slip.
#14) - Showtime is still the Lakers as long as Kobe is still there. And with young guys Critt, Chandler, & Bynum, this team will be a force to reckoned with in the future. As of now, they need another big to help out Bynum in the post or they too will fall like many of the mid-ranking teams might.
#15) - The Heat have only played 4 games so it's hard to make an evaluation. All we know is that Shaq is still old and Larry Hughes and Steve Francis aren't PG's. What happened to Mehmet Okur? If he played like he did in real life, at least this Heat team would have something to look forward to. They're lucky to be up here due to their record/standing.
#16) - I know it might be high to put the Bucks here but I like what I see from this team. Rondo is playing unbelievable and Josh Smith is proving to be an all-around stud. Daniel Gibson is also playing very well but after that there is nobody worth mentioning. They just traded their best big man for another wing so that might be the downfall that brings this team down.
#17) - Neeeeew Yooooork. The frontcourt of Curry, Brand, & Odom is playing well but unlike NY teams of the past, this current squad doesn't have a backcourt of even decent players. JWill has regressed and Luther Head is a real good bench player at best. They better make some moves to get back into the playoffs.
#18) - I'm disappointed. But mostly in Baron Davis. His paultry stats of 11 ppg really turns me off. His 3 tpg also scare me but mostly I thought he'd be able to run and gun with VC and Redd on his side. If Davis steps it up in the scoring department then I see this team on the rebound. It's only been 5 games for them but that's still not a great impression.
#19) - Looks like were seeing an end of an era. Steve Nash's age and legs might have finally caught up to him. His 11 ppg can be justified with the other scorers on this team but only 5 apg is telling his swan story. The Matrix and JCN are proving to be a great Forward combo but pretty soon, JCN's small size for a SF will catch up to him.
#20) - Only 5 games for this team as well with a bunch of talent. Like the Magic, this team has a prolific scoring combo in Melo & AI. ANd just like the Magic, they have no one who can score downlow. K-Mart is not the same player he once was and Camby just can't do anything with the rock in his hands. Anton Ponkrashov has been a nice surprise though and gives the Nuggs a distributor.
#21) - I didn't like this team much in the pre-season or in my division preview and I still don't like them too much. It seems to me that they are in a transitional phase with young guys like Butler and Prince but keeping around Dyess and Wallace. Singletary has been playing very well as a rookie and it looks like it might be time to give David Lee a shot at the starting role and see what the future of DET has to offer.
#22) - Man, talk about disappointing. The Wiz have been marked by underachivers. Z-Bo, Azubuike, Billups, & Bibby have all started off slow. It seems like no one wants to take over the prominent scoring role for this team. And Randolph's putry 6 rpg is not going to cut it for a PF. A nice addition though has been Chris Kaman whom the Wiz never wanted but at least he was one of the decent off-season payoffs.
#23) - LBJ needs help. LBJ needs help. Please, if you have just one, just one item, send it to LeBron James and the Seattle Sonics at Key West Arena, Seattle, WA. Rip Hamilton looks to be the beneficiary who has done the most w/ LBJ commanding all the double-teams. His scoring is close to 20 ppg and he'll make teams pay for harassing LBJ. The Sonics could do some damage but IMHO, I think it hangs on how Villanueva matures as a player.
#24) - It seems like only Chris Bosh really came to show up for the Raptors. He's putting up stellar numbers but is not being helped by much. Raef LaFrentz is scoring but not rebounding, Shaun Livingston is scoring but not dishing the rock, Webster is scoring but not doing much of else and Goran Dragic is only a rookie so you can't depend too much on him.
#25) - Did? Did? Wha? Ummm? O...k? WHERE THE HELL IS DIRK? Why is one of the top 5 players in this game not playing? And not to mention Peja. Do you want to purposely lose? I don't think that's allowed. I hope you put in a right DC. Unless you wanted to try out and see what some of your players are capable of producing. Vlad and Uros are playing well though but aren't going to be nearly enough. One more thought, is this squad a joke? Is this the All-Euro team? J/k bout the joke, no disrespect.
#26) - What happened to last year's Finals runner-up? With esentially the same team except some additions like JRich and Thabeet, this team should do much more. Maybe it's the DC. Maybe the offensive focus or pace. This team's starting 5 alone would make the playoffs with not backups.
#27) - The team with the fewest amount of games and that's the only reason I put them this low. Brad Miller and Andrew Bogut are proving to be a formidable frontcourt and the new K-Mart is a stud. What this team needs to do is deal some of the young bigs they have like Hawes and Horford, and get someone who can score on the wing to help out Jameer and Kevin.
#28) - We knew this team would struggle but at least they have a foundation to build on. Bayless and Law could be a deadly backcourt but it hinges on if Bayless can handle the SG position. Shelden Williams is also a pleasant surprise and has progressed to a good big man and he's still young and growing so who knows what the future holds. Green and Childress, one has to go or Law so that the Hawks can have a good starting 5.
#29) - Uggh. No pick, only Durant. If I were an A-Hole I'd continue on that but I can see what this team is doing. Many of it's best valued players are all still very very young. Brandan Wright, Marco Belinelli, Daequan Cook, Danilo Gallinari are still too young so he better hope they all develop because with no picks in the next two drafts, we could see this team at the familiar lower bottom of the rankings for two more years.
Hope you guys enjoy.
