Well, you said we'd get points for a weekly P.R. so it's been 1 week since my last one. I wanted to do it after every other sim but James did the P.R. for Sim 3 so I'll take care of them for this past sim.
#1) - The league's hottest team resides in the Northwest. The Portland Trailblazers, led by the now unanimous best frontcourt in the league, the Blazers have reeled off a perfect 10-0 record at home. TJ Ford is anchoring the 3-head monster of Gay, Aldridge, & Oden and is leading this team to homecourt. The only question mark is if they'll let rookie Alex Harris continue to log these large amounts of minutes.
#2) - With a .750% on the road, I used that statistic to let Cleveland leapfrog over Utah for the number 2 spot in the rankings. They only score 94 ppg but it's their stifiling defense that wins them their games. Only allowing a shy bit under 87 ppg, the Cavs are led by soon-to-be 1st NBCSL All-Leaguer Dwight Howard in the post. D12 is putting up MVP numbers for his young squad and could be a force to be wreckoned with come playoff time. Hopefully guys like Yi, Monta, & Kyle will also be able to "grow" up for the playoffs.
#3) - Utah, please don't be mad that you're number 3. Plenty of great occurences happened at the number 3. The All-Time GOAT, Michael Jordan was the 3rd pick. Carmelo was the 3rd pick. I was born in the 3rd month. See, nothing to worry about. Otherwise, you're team, well, is doing nasty. The place you don't want to play at come playoff time will be in Utah. A rockess crowd that fears many. And with guys on their team that are capable of exploding for large chunks of points at anytime, it'll be hard to slow down these Jazz. Run by versatile G Deron Williams, the Jazz' Ray Allen is shooting at career high %'s and is a guy you don't want to leave open for a possible GW shot.
#4) - Even though Cleveland has a better record so far, I would say that the Celtics are the best team in the East. They're the most balanced team led by two superstars and an interior force that should not be messed with. You don't want to drive down the lane with a shot-blocking menace who cleans the boards like a prime Big Ben going at you in Emeka Okafor. And if you double T-Mac or Wade, then they can always kick it down-low to an underrated C in Chris Kaman. And I won't even mention what Jamison is capable of doing. The only concern I have is if Wade can continue to run the point effectively for a whole season.
#5) - I hope you're still thanking YungOne for giving you back Amare. Because if you didn't have him, well............. you wouldn't be top 5, I'll tell you that. Stoudemire is probably playing the best out of all big men in the West. Averaging EXACTLY 30 ppg and EXACTLY 12 rpg (scary that those are his EXACT numbers, no decimals or nothing) Stoudemire has to be in the running for MVP. There is also the matter that Roy Hibbert is being overlooked as a ROY candidate. Putting up 18 and 10 on a 18-8 team should warrant you at least 1 ROY of the Month honors but sadly it doesn't. Only problems I have with this PHX team is the lack of big-men depth and the lack of another swingman to take pressure off of Morris Almond. With two capable starting PG's on the bench in Felton and Starbury, the Suns should be more then capable of findiing a good suitor.
#6) - I know the Grizz are below both the Kings and T'Wolves in the standings but I put them up here, well, because they're my rankings damnnit and I do what I want. But truthfully, I just look back at the meeting on Day 3 where the Wolves/Grizz met and neither team has done a deal or anything and I see that result and still believe the Grizz are a better team who just hit a skid on the road in their previous sim. With a better team all-around, I believe this Grizz team will go deep in the playoffs.
#7) - 12 wins for this team at this point is a major step forward. Well, with only 17 games in total, this is all you can assess from them. The Kings are led by Kevin Martin,a guy who I still can't believe scorers over 22 ppg with the most akward shooting motion in the entire league. With a 3 big man rotation of Brad Miller, Andrew Bogut, and Al Horford, this Kings team should kill teams downlow. It's only on the defensive side where it scares me to see, Horford??? at the SF position. I believe they need to find a real wingman and send one of their bigs to the bench to give them some ammo from their backups.
#8) - At 18-11 with three legit starters, this T'Wolves team is impressive. I don't know how they do it but they do. Heck, I think my big 3 is just as good but we can't win so their is something this Wolves GM is doing that I ain't. Anywho, KG, is well, KG. Putting up All-Star numbers as usual, he is helping young Al blossom into a stud big man. Although I don't believe Al is a true Center so I think they might have to find a real one and when KG goes, Al can slide into his natural PF position. Foye is the only legit scoring threat in the backcourt and that scares me because when he has to be defended by the bigger G's, he might struggle to get his shot off.
#9) - "Well, they are who we thought they were." Ahhhhhh, I love that quote and tyrant, probably cuz it was one of my favorite games last year. But, back to the point. The Magic, led by VC and Mike Redd are starting to climb back up the rankings. With still no scoring downlow though I am a bit worried about this team. What worries me most is when B-Diddy will find his groove back. Sure he's dishing the rock but his shooting %'s are terrible. 42% from the field and 59% from the FREE throw line. Ughhhh. Once he starts scoring more (hopefully for their sake he does) then this team will be deadly.
#10) - Chris Bosh might have actually finally got some help. I guess Webster and LaFrentz' stats weren't no fluke at the beginning of the season. Martell might actually be a player you can count on and Shaun Livingston is actually doing pretty decently at the SG position although he could shoot a bit better. The Raps are actually pretty decent when it comes to the bench because guys like Bargnani, Graham, & Garbajosa can play multiple positions which means they can sub in for any one of the 5 starters. I don't know if the Raps have the staying power to remain in the top 10 but only time will tell.
#11) - Oh yea, Neeeeeew Yoooooooork, like Sinatra would say. There's no secret to the Knicks success. They can score in bunches in the post and it's due to Curry, Brand, and Odom. Not to mention that Granger himself plays like a big man. The only thing that doesn't put fear into the opponents is the lack of any threat that plays any G position. Jason Williams is like the QB on the team that isn't good at all but he has a great D and a good running game and all he has to do is sit back and manage the game and NO T.O.'s!
#12) - I know the Nets wish they could be playing better then .500 in their last 10 but Green and Jefferson have started to slowdown and Marcus Williams isn't a scorer. Neither is Nene so that only leaves Harrington and Jefferson to score. They aren't your typical go-to-guys. They're tremendous as supporting players though which makes you wonder how nasty they'd be right now if T-Mac was there.
#13) - We have finally reached the mediocrity of the league and reached the teams who hope to either hover around .500 or try to jump over it. The Rockets are led by franchise player Yao Min g and he's doing all he can to keep this team competitive and they are finally playing like it. Arenas is playing like Stevie Franchise was back in the day when the Rockets had their classic playoff confrontation with the Lakers. And it looks like Artest found the Mojo to score again. As long as he and Magloire can continue to contribute at this consistent level then the Rockets will get better.
#14) - The Hornets are a team that should be better but unfortunately they've been hit bad by the "unrealistic" players. Mo-Pete and David West' real-life counterparts are essential to the Hornets and can score where as the sim-Peterson/West are busts basically. Hopefully the new GM will pull some strings and find new homes for his guys and start over with either Harris or Paul running the point.
#15) - The Pistons luckily are somehow still in the playoff race. With Sean Singletary playing outstanding for a rookie and with Caron Butler proving he can be the main option on a team, the Pistons have managed to stay very competitive. And Rasheed still has some pop in him. I just wish that Tayshaun Prince was playing better and rated a bit better. If he could play like he really does in real life (I hate to say that again) then the Pistons could be even better.
#16) - The Warriors have jumped real high since last week. I put this team as the worst team last week and now they are right in the middle. Somehow, without Durant and Gallinari in the last sim, the Warriors managed to stay as a threat to beat teams. With young guys all over the place, the Warriors are able to run, run, run, and run some more. But what happens once a team finds a way to stop Durant?
#17) - Did I ever tell you how much of a great job you're doing? I mean wonderful, tremendous, stupendous in fact. Just an all-around terrific job (hopefully Alonzo Mourning turns into his 26 year old self for tomorrow's sim). I gotta tell ya yung, letting Amare go..........biggest mistake so far of the season IMHO (and now Zo transforms into a 46 year old version of himself). Ruffin has been a steal and Gordon is playing decent but not good enough for his contract. Iggy is a stud and Warrick/Big Z are holding down the fort in the middle. Only problem is you can't seem to outscore your opponents, don't worry though, I have the same problem. Hopefully your young guys develop into studs and then everyone accuses you of cheating and we shut down the league ....... or not.
#18) - Showtime, what happened? You guys have been slipping lately. I'll give the benefit of the doubt though to the Lakers GM that he's been missing for a while (understandably so though). Kobe is still somehow shooting close to 50% from the field and scoring 33 ppg as basically the only viable scoring threat on the team. Critt has been playing like a stud though and hopefully he develops correctly because that "C" in potential would worry almost everyone. Bynum has regressed a bit though since last week. And you need to find more players that can score for this team, otherwise this team will slip.....fast.
#19) - Yes, Nash,Marion, and Navarro are all playing well, especially Navarro, but this team's GM looks like he wants to start all over or is looking to deal his 1st right now at its highest peak to make his team more competitive. Right now they are stuck in neutral and could go either way and that's why I believe they've been slipping lately. They better find a Center soon, and we know their GM is trying so we can't blame him for not landing one soon. So someone, PLEASE TAKE NASH and give this well-deserving GM the Center he wants and needs.
#20) - LeBron. LeBron. LeBron. Now I know that LBJ is not the only thing this team has but he sure is playing like he's the only one out there. LBJ is getting 32 and 8 and is the superstar this franchise needed and Rip Hamilton is playing like the perfect wingman getting his points, boards, and assist. Ridnour is also distributing the ball well and has been managing the team well and they have been gelling as of late. The team is just waiting to see if Charlie V. can play like a real big man or if they need to go look for one.
#21) - Last season's Western Conference representative is looking they might be turning things around and that's bad news for the rest of the Pacific Division. Although Thabeet's ppg have dipped, it means that the buckets have been opening for guys like Jermaine, Rashard, & J-Rich. J-Kidd looks like he's finally in tune after the long off-season on his tired legs and the combo of Krstic/Thabeet at Center might just be the perfect find for this team and for it to have success.
#22) - Oh, how the Pacers have fallen, but it was to be expected and at least the GM knew about it. The team is young though and is still learning how to win and close out games. Led by unofficial franchise guy Luol Den's 23 ppg, The Pacers have stumbled since their 3-3 promising start. Dominic James has taken over the starting PG spot. The team is still lacking a ton of quality starters and hopefully one of those 3 backup starting PG's will be dealt soon.
#23) - Man, switching Bibby didn't work for this team. But Bibby isn't to be solely blamed for this team's disappointing record so far. The whole team has suffered and there were no injuries to be accounted for. The team has just been unable to keep up with teams in the scoring department. Billups and Bibby just aren't the right fit and the team needs to address that problem.
#24) - Ahhhhh, let me tell you. This pretty ass GM is pissed that his team is stinking up the court right now. They can't score but they can defend. They have a Big 3 but no one after that and he's trying, oh he's trying to improve this team but nothing seems to be working. If I were him, well, I'd just tank and pray that the new OJ2 finds his way to the Alamo.......Wait, I'm the GM? Oh, then, forget what I said and please oh please send some talent my way.
#25) - Yes, we know they aren't that good right now but 2 years from now this team will be scary. They've got good, young guys already performing well in the backcourt and have young guys in the frontcourt who could develop well. Give this team time and they will get better. One bright spot though is the development of Rajon Rondo. He's playing unbelievable and teams can't seem to slow him down.
#26) - Well, at least Dirk came back. Well, actually, after looking it over. It seems like he's not back. I think you should call Citibank and tell them you have a case of missing identity because there seems to be a 7' German claiming to be Dirk Nowitzki on your team. I don't know what it is but it is his lack of scoring production that has made this team struggle because the guys around him like Vlad, Peja, Kirilenko, and Calderon have all played well so far this season. Did I not mention that this has got to be the most unique team ever assembled in Sim League history?
#27) - Oh how the mighty have fallen. Well, at least Shaq is putting up over 20 ppg again. Oh, wait, I just checked. He's hurt and will miss the next sim. That's great. And you don't even have your 1st round pick this season. This team looks like it's going to be living in the bottom 3 for a while unless it gets it act together and starts wheeling and dealing some parts around. At least you have some good commodities to deal. Gooden, Hughes, Battier are all good pieces to move around. But, like I said before, one of the most disappointing players and he continues to struggle is Mehmet Okur, just a shame what happened to him.
#28) - I'll tell you, I like what the Hawks have. I like the trio of Green, Law, and Bayless. They already have 9 wins and that's more then many people expected at this time. With one more lottery pick, a big man to compliment Shelden Williams is what this team needs. They also will have some money in Free Agency to throw around so watch out for this team next season. They'll be able to turn it around quickly.
#29) - This has got to be the league's most puzzling team. When you have two guys who can score more then 25 ppg on your team, you shouldn't have only 4 wins through 21 games. I know Camby can't score but we all know that, we don't expect him too. But K-Mart just isn't the player he once was. I wish I could give this team some advice but I don't know what to say. I'd say get a better big man but that's repetitive and there just aren't that many good big men to throw around. They have their pick still and hopeully Ponkrashov continues to develop well and this team next season will be back in the playoff hunt.
Hope you guys enjoy. I should be able to do these once a week, just sad that it'd be like every 4 sims. Hopefully, I'll be able to do some during the season where they won't be a week apart.
#1) - The league's hottest team resides in the Northwest. The Portland Trailblazers, led by the now unanimous best frontcourt in the league, the Blazers have reeled off a perfect 10-0 record at home.
