Hey, thought you guys would enjoy some articles about the league. Please don't get mad with the selections I make. They are just who I think should win even though the program picks players that you don't really think of.
Most Valuable Player :
Dwight Howard (Cleveland Cavaliers) -
The Best Player on the East' best team. Howard has averages of 22 ppg, 13.5 rpg, 2.5 apg, as well as 2.5 bpg. He has matured into one of the league's best big men and is helping this team reach a no.1 seed in the playoffs. Howard has improved all of his stats since last season and is leading the league in rebounds per game.
Honorable Mention :
C, Amare Stoudemire - 28.5 ppg/11.5 rpg/3 apg/1.5 bpg
PF, Kevin Garnett - 26 ppg/13 rpg/3.5 apg/3 bpg
Defensive Player of the Year :
Andrei Kirilenko (Dallas Mavericks) -
I know it might seem a bit strange to put a guy who's on a losing team as the DPOY but Kirilenko's stats are just too good to deny. His stats of 4 bpg with 1.5 spg as well as pulling down 10.5 rpg are worthy of an award. His multi-versatility is also shown as he can play anything from SG to PF and play defense well at all positions.
Honorable Mention :
C, Greg Oden - 12 rpg/4.2 bpg/1 spg
Rookie of the Year :
Roy Hibbert (Phoenix Suns) -
I know some owners might be surprised that Hibbert is my choice but the stats speak for themselves. 19 and 10 is a good season for almost any player, but for a rookie? Those stats are ubelievable. I think the Hawks might be kicking themselves for letting a potential franchise big man slip through their fingers. But the Suns are glad that they have him now as he has paired with Amare Stoudemire to make a dangerous frontcourt tandem.
Honorable Mention :
PG, Jerryd Bayless - 15 ppg/6 rpg/4 apg/1 spg
SF, Donte Green - 19 ppg/7 rpg/3 apg/1 spg
PG, Sean Singletary - 14 ppg/4 rpg/7.5 apg/1.5 spg
6th Man of the Year :
David West (New Orleans Hornets) -
West has shown that his move to the bench in the beginning of the season has proved dividends. He has come in for both Tyson Chandler and rookie Joey Dorsey and has proven that he's deadly as a key player off the bench for the resurgent Hornets. He's been a big part of their success with his productivity in limited time. For the season his averages are 13 ppg and 6 rpg.
Honorable Mention :
SF, Quentin Richardson - 9 ppg/5.5 rpg/2 apg
PF, Vladimir Radmanovic - 15.5 ppg/6.5 rpg/2.5 apg
These All-League teams I am picking based on what position the player is currently playing at.
